Kingsport's parks have always been a hub for community engagement, but the latest addition to Scott Adams Park takes it to a whole new level. Volume Interactive recently had the privilege of working with Barge Design and Kingsport Parks and Recreation to document the construction of this exciting new facility. Our deliverables included stunning drone footage, engaging videos, dynamic social media content, and captivating photos, all aimed at showcasing the new Pump Track. This project, built by Velosolutions USA and American Ramp Company, is one of Kingsport's coolest new parks, and we're proud to be part of its story.
The new Pump Track at Scott Adams Park is designed to accommodate riders of all skill levels, abilities, and ages. Its 2500 square foot asphalt track, integrated jump line with three hills in sequence, and 150-foot wallride offer thrilling experiences for BMX bikers, skateboarders, and scooter enthusiasts alike. The track’s design ensures maximum inclusivity, making it accessible to a wide range of riders. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, this park has something for everyone.
One of the standout features of the Pump Track is its seamless integration with the Scott Adams Memorial Skate Park. This integration creates a cohesive recreational area that supports both open use riding and competitive racing. Riders can flow from the pump track to the skate park, enjoying the varied terrain that includes rollers, berms, and transfer opportunities. The natural landscaping, now aptly referred to as native landscaping, adds to the park's aesthetic appeal, making it a beautiful place to spend the day.
Documenting the Pump Track was an adventure in itself. From early morning to late evening, we captured the park in various conditions to showcase its versatility and beauty. The weather in early June was perfect, with the hillside covered in blooming wildflowers, providing a picturesque backdrop for our shots. The diversity of people visiting the park was incredible, with families, teens, and even seasoned riders all enjoying the new facility.
The Scott Adams Memorial Skate Park, originally moved from East Center Street in 2014, has always been a cherished part of the community. Named after Scott Adams, who tragically lost his life in a skating accident in 1970, the park holds a special place in the hearts of local skaters. The addition of the Pump Track only enhances this legacy, offering a new dimension of excitement and inclusivity.
The Pump Track is not just about riding; it’s about creating a space for the community to come together. The central plaza and shelters provide areas for rest and socializing, while the restroom facility ensures visitors have all the amenities they need. This park is more than just a recreational space; it's a testament to the city's commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive outdoor facilities for its residents.
Our work on this project was a labor of love. From coordinating with Barge Design to timing our shoots with the weather, every detail was meticulously planned to ensure we captured the essence of the park. The result is a collection of visuals that not only promote the new Pump Track but also celebrate the spirit of adventure and community that defines Kingsport.
In the words of Kitty Frazier, this park is truly unique. It’s a place where memories are made, and adventures are born. Whether you're popping ollies on the skate park rails or feeling the rush of the pump track under your wheels, Scott Adams Park is a destination like no other. So grab your bike, skateboard, or scooter, and come experience the thrill for yourself. And remember, every story needs a soundtrack – from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Snoop Dogg, let the music guide your ride.
We can’t talk about this project without acknowledging the incredible work done by Velosolutions USA and American Ramp Company. Their expertise and passion for creating world-class pump tracks are evident in every curve and jump of the track. Their dedication to building a facility that welcomes everyone, regardless of age or ability, is what makes this park so special.
If you haven't visited Scott Adams Park yet, what are you waiting for? Come see for yourself why this park is the talk of the town. Whether you're a local or just passing through, the new Pump Track is a must-visit destination. See you at the park!
